Schnadig
Decorating Made Easy

Schnadig’s 750 employees are located in three manufacturing plants in California, Mississippi and Pennsylvania, a distribution center in Mississippi, a frame mill in Georgia, and at Corporate Headquarters in Des Plaines, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago.

The focus of our reputation is integrity, fashion, quality and value. Despite our size, we try to maintain an intimacy with each of our dealers and employees. Our customers and employees are members of the Schnadig family and are treated as such. We have maintained our warm relationships while building a successful business that is financially strong.

Lawrence K. Schnadig was a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania. He began his career in the cost estimating department of Pullman Couch Company, which his father co-founded. He also worked as a sales representative in the Chicago area and, at the age of 39, became Pullman's President. The Pullman Couch Company was sold in 1951. In 1952, Mr. Schnadig purchased and combined S. Karpen & Brothers and International Furniture Company, to form Schnadig Corporation. Leadership in styling, technology and value are the backbone of our success. Schnadig Corporation began as an upholstered manufacturing company and entered the table business in the 1980’s, enabling it to offer furniture for a full living room, family room and den. The “room concept” was later extended to the dining room and bedroom as well. In addition to his founding of the Schnadig Corporation, Lawrence Schnadig was active in both civic and industry affairs. He acted as Chairman of the Board from the time he formed the company in 1951 and maintained a special relationship with both his customers and employees until his death in June of 1997. He was also deeply committed to helping children and the disadvantaged.
