In 1972 Joyce Eddy started a small enterprise that was destined to become an influential force in American homes - Habersham. Being Chairman of the Board of a major furniture company was not what the Ohio farm girl would have called her life-long ambition. Twenty some years ago, the thought had never crossed her mind. Back then, she was struggling just to support herself and her children.
It was 1972 in Clarkesville, Georgia when Joyce Eddy started a new life and, quite amazingly, a new furniture concept that has captured the imaginations of millions of Americans.
Joyce solved the large scale problem of maintaining product quality and integrity in a unique way. Instead of trying to establish an impersonal, mass produced assembly line factory, Joyce worked with individual artisans in their own shops around Toccoa, Georgia.
In recent years, Joyce has refined the artistic direction of her line, placing even more emphasis on upscale, sophisticated designs. To better communicate this refined style, the company name has been changed to simply, Habersham.
