Charleston Forge began as a dream for owners Art and Susan Barber over twenty years ago. Opening a small retail store in Boone, North Carolina, they began selling handmade fireplace accessories and patio furniture. Seeking to grow their business, they also began manufacturing glass fireplace enclosures, and later, outdoor furniture. Finding this a highly competitive market dominated by large national companies, the Barbers soon switched their focus.

Building an original line of steel bakers racks and occasional furniture intended for indoor use, the Barbers began promoting their new products. They set up a temporary "showroom" in the hallway of Market Square in High Point, North Carolina, and began taking orders for their innovative designs.

From that humble beginning, Charleston Forge has grown into a multi-million dollar company that ships its quality iron furniture around the world. Employing over 200 people at seven different facilities, Charleston Forge continues to grow as a leader in the indoor metal segment of the furniture industry. This steady growth has been fueled by the Barber's belief that everyone involved with Charleston Forge is a member of a very large family.
